a used 1999 9-3. I looked specifically at the 1999 due to price and availability due to lease returns. I have had more 'problems' with the 1999 than the 1996 but all have been covered by warranty. The problems:
1. Sticking air direction control - fix - a new heater box (approx $C1,000 if you had to pay for it, about a 6 hour job)
2. Sticking heater temperature control - fix - new cable
3. No rear window washer fluid - fix - new washer pump
4. Cracking covering on driver's B pillar - fix - replace the sticky black covering
All of this was done over 3 visits to the dealer - mostly due to parts to be ordered. The heater problem is well known and the heater controls should be fine on the 2000. If the car you buy still has lots of warranty left then go for the best deal price/equipment.
