For the same reasons that the Trionic Engine Management 7 adapts the boost and engine management to the grade of fuel. I'm not sure of the exact mechanisms, but I do know it takes a tank of gas or so for it to happen. You can't switch fuels and feel an immediate difference. It takes awhile for the engine management to "ramp up" to the increased power. Constant full boost operation with premium fuel allows the car to gradually adjust engine management for maximum power. In a sense the car takes a little while to learn the driver and the fuel.
