Tire question

I've searched through the archives and have found some good tire info but nothing to exactly answer my question....
Within the past six months I purchased a used 01 Viggen Conv. It has a little over 20k miles on it and a couple of the tires need replacing. Actually, two of the tires really need replacements, one of them has another 5K left, and the other one was newly replaced by Saab right before I got the car. All are the Pirelli 6000.
I have decided to go with the Sumitomo HTR+. So my questions are:
should I replace just two of the tires and put them on the front or should I go ahead and replace all four? Will I notice a difference if the Pirelli's are on the back and the Sumitomo's are on the front? Finally, if I just get the two tires, what should my rotation strategy be?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
