I have the base 99 9-3 with the 4 speaker audio package. I have upgraded the dash and shelf speakers, but would like to get more clear high end sound and feel that an amp is the way to go.

I read Richard Bevan's auido guide, and searched the board: As I understand it, there is a pre-amp output on the standard Saab head unit. This would connect to a 4 channel amp (which could be located in the trunk or under a seat.) By using the pre-amp out, I would retain the use of my steering wheel contrls. Is all this correct?

The reason for the question is during my conversation at Circuit City yesterday with an installer, he indicated that there was no pre-amp out on the Saab head unit, and the steering wheel controls would no longer work with any amp upgrade. I explained that I was under the impression that there was a pre-amp out, and that it was an 8-pin DIN.
