the economy has nothing to do with the current party control. If anyone person is to blame, I would say that Alan Greenspan is the culprit. His manipulation of interest rates back in 2000 did a good job of stopping inflation. The unfortunate thing is, that it stopped everything else too. auto sales, vacationing, home buying, consumer spending as a whole dropped. The Tech Stock fall was a market correction. It was bound to happen; the slowdown in consumer spending due to higher cost of money that coincided with the crash is what put us in harms way. Of course, things started to look up during the early third quarter of 2001. Just as things started to turn slightly positive, the Towers went down, and the entire country went into a cocoon, never to come out.
Of course, I'm not complaining. You can't enjoy the good times, if you never have the bad times. We'll be back. We're just taking a breather.
