Think SAAB would go for this fix for my climate knobs??

They've broken 2 times on my '99 9-3. They've always done the temp fix. My warranty is up in August, and I'm about to decided to keep the car after lease (ends in feb.).
I'm scared sh*t of the real fix, as the whole dash comes out. No matter how good the tech is, i'm scared he will miss a screw here or there, or something won't fit right, or rattle....it seems inevitable.
It seems to me that my car would need the "temp fix" every 2 years or so before the knobs would get stiff again. The temp fix just requires removing the glovebox, and kickpanel...and I'm cool with that.
My proposal is that SAAB would pay for the quick fix every 2 years or so for as long as I own the car, rather than me doing the real fix, as I don't want my car taken apart like that. The only other option that would make me happy is for my car to be sent back to Trollhattan, and have the problem fixed, and the dash reassembled in the factory....but something tells me they won't go for that.
