Your data on high octane giving better mileage on turbos is wrong. "Need to update your old files". Reread my post. Lower octane gas 89 preignites sooner than 93, correct ? The ECU reduces the boost upon detection, retards the ignition timing and adjusts the a/f mixture. Less boost/less torque = less gas = better mpg ( than 93 which would be more powee = more boost = lower mpg.)
A SAAB fuel engineer ( and trainer in Sweden) told me that while certifying an engine here in Ann Arbor, MI. as my prooof source.
As far as "confuse the computer" goes--that is wrong too. With adaptive strategy, the computer constantly adapts to what is in the tank, and highway, etc.
