When you told BMW or Benz or Audi that your brakes squeaked they insisted that was because of the superior high speed autobahn stopping power and it was either or. Along came Lexus, Infiniti and Acura and lo and behold they LISTENED to their customers and made effective brakes that didn't squeak. When the Germans lost substantial market share they too magically found a way to get rid of the squeak in their brakes too.
You've been BS'd. We had the same problem in Saturns, excessive idle vibration. The motor mounts have rubber in them and when they're new they do their job, but after a few years they get stiff or collapse and the car shakes. A "S" Saturn will need a new to motor mount every 30-50k at least!
I'll be changing mine soon in my '96 900SE, essentially the same car, and we'll see. Can't tell you why factories are so obstinate in some regards.
