I posted last week about my driver's mirror getting damaged. Well...now I have the replacement part painted the body color but I need instructions on how to disassemble it. There are 4 major pieces to the side view mirror.
1) Main assembly with electronics that is attached to side of vehicle
2) Mirror
3) Back Plastic Piece
4) Front plastic piece
The replacement I got was an entire assembled side mirror off of a wrecked saab. So....I need instructions on how to disassemble this used mirror to pillage parts 2,3,& 4. I've fiddled around but I'm afraid to break something. If I push the mirror into the "folded" position, there is a small whole where there is a plastic notch that holds the thing in place. If I push that in, and try and pull the pieces apart, there doesn't seem to be a lot of give and I don't want to crack it.
How can I get these pieces off, as well as take the mirror off. Any tips for putting it back on as well would be welcomed. I guess the alternative would be to take the entire mirror assembly off of my current saab, and re-attach this thing as a whole unit. Help!
