As your running the 185hp 2.0L the manual doesn’t say to use 93 (or 92 since that’s the best we can get around here) It says that the 87 is fine.
But once you start increasing boost levels and advancing timing to get more power then you start to run into detonation problems. So although the 93 is probably better for your car (usually comes with built in cleaners like techron) It's not required.
But for a HOT or Viggen it's probably a much better idea, and for someone running a tweaked ECU it's a necessity.
