Like Steve Sheltz, I have a 1999 SE HOT, 5 spd, with the Trionic 5 engine management. Mine has the heated leather power seats with armrest, CD player and extra speakers, ACC, wood dash, and 16" wheels. I think this is twhat makes it an "SE". The 200hp and cross-flow intercooler make it HOT. I bought it in September with 42K; it now has 49K.

Same broken power seat (bought it that way)
Just replaced BPC
Hopefully getting my Thermostat replaced next week (all the symptoms are there).
Head gasket retorque at 42K (and no problems since)
Power antenna motor replaced

These are all little things, in my mind, and certainly wouldn't strand me. Next time the BPC goes, I'll bypass it with an MBC anyway.

I absolutely love the car! I treat it carefully, fill it with new Mobil 1 0w-4w every 5000 miles, and have the Haynes manual for when the warranty runs out at the end of this month. I'm holding onto the car as long as possible, and have already invested in various performance modifications to keep it feeling fresh. Most of my driving is long highway trips (6 hours plus) as I walk to work, and I trust the car to get me there without worry.

I'll be taking a long roadtrip this summer to a wedding in the great plains, and will carry a junkyard/spare DI and idler pully and belt before I go (will change it at 60K, regardless): these seem to be the only parts that may really strand you. I love to tinker, and this car still feels accessible to me for that. If well maintained, the engines will be reliable as anything out there. I don't know, but I would assume the T-7's (2000+) are even more reliable?

Good luck!

Lutfisk
