What is "normal" boost?

I don't think I am getting all the boost I should, but my dealer says it is operating normally.
They just did some service and I asked them to look at the boost while they had it. The only comment I got back was "maybe better gas would give you a little more"... but I already use 93 octane chevron.
So what is normal?
In first gear I can get 50% into the yellow
2nd gear 2/3 into the yellow
3rd gear 3/4 into the yellow, top of the yellow if I really stand on it and hold it WOT to 5000 RPM
4th and 5th top of yellow, but it takes a while for the needle to get there.
When I bought the car (99 9-3 SE HOT) the boost came on a lot faster, but the BPCV was on it's way out. Ever since I got it fixed, I've lost some.
Was it too "hot" before the repair and this is normal?
