I really need to know, please help: Looking at engine from front of car, right side of valve cover, near plug for DI cassette. There is a circular indentation in the valve cover. What is this thing? My reason for really wanting to know: I had brought the car into the dealer for several warranty issues, one of which was old oil stains and a perhaps a slight oil seep near the front of the engine. Reading so much here about head gaskets (particularly among early 9-s) I wanted it checked out. This circular indentation had a slight weep of oil. They did a pressure test of the system so I guess all's well. BUT guess what the "fix" at the dealer was for the weep in the indentation? They used some sort of liquid metal crap and smeared it in there!!! Hows that for thorough service?!?!? Before I blast them into next Tuesday for that incredible lack of customer care I'd like to know what the indentation thing is, or if even a slight oil weep from it is a big deal (I assume it is, oil shouldn't come out of a engine period I guess). Thanks.
