9-3SS Arc: interior fit and finish problems

I test drove an Arc and found 4 fit/finish problems (only spent about 40 minuntes in the car and I wasn't specifically looking for such problems):
1) Glove box would not open (pressing button only released the right-hand latch; 2) parking brake handle misaligned over 1/2"; 3) lever used to release steering wheel to adjust it's height pulled right off in my hand (it didn't break and I was able to reinsert it, but talk about flimsy!, and 4) speakers and wires at the top of the trunk are not sealed off, so luggage could be scratched or they could be damaged (unlike the other 3 items, not a defect per se, but only a bit better than a 1995 rental Chevy Cavalier I remember.
I currently own a 1997 900SE and am seriously considering the 9-3, but given that my 900 has been far from trouble-free this experience really worries me. Did I get an isolated, poorly built sample, or is my experience with the 9-3 typical?
