Well, the Arc I drove earlier this week had no such problems. The glove box opened fine (but I'll tell you it took me a while when I first sat in a SS to figure out HOW to open it!) The handbrake lever was also properly aligned. I didn't spot any fit and finish problems, and I spent quite a bit of time in the car.
I have on order an Arc, in silver, with the touring package and 6-speed. The one I drove had the 6-speed but not the touring package, which I want. It was a blast to drive - had more oomph than my '97 900SE, even accelerating in 6th on the highway. The Linear I had driven earlier seemed sluggish by comparison (it does have 10HP less than my '97).
I hope I am doing the right thing - I'm REALLY going to miss the hatchback, but I think it's time to make the move while the '97 is still in such good shape. (I'll be selling it privately - watch for my ad in a few weeks!)
The one part of the interior I found jarring was the large display in the main dash - the one that's displaying a menu any time the radio is on. I wish I could turn that off without using Black Panel. Of course, the European models have the navigation system there...
