Repost of Clutch Slipping/Noise for Ros

Repost of my earlier message--it was buried pretty far down in the queue
Ros, here are the noises/ causes / repairs on my '99 9-3clutch.
Mine never really slipped, but the friction surface was oil soaked at 45 K. Probably would have slipped before too long. The Throwout bearing/clutch slave cylinder assembly was leaking brake fluid and either the transmission seal or an engine sealy was leaking a bit too. Replaced 'em all when the transmission was out.
The groaning sound (kinda like a moose bellowing for it's mate) when the clutch is being let out was the dampener springs on the hub of the clutch plate. They either break or get weak and then vibrate. The oil soaked clutch was also causing a bit of a squeal as well.
It's not a job to do piecemeal. Best thing to do is save up the bucks or the DIY time & bucks and pull the transmission. While you're there, resurface the flywheel, replace the clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing/slave cylinder. Check any seals for leaking, they're cheap at that point.
I had mine done under warranty at Dorshel so I can't estimate cost.
