I installed my sport exhaust on my 1999 SE HOT in March, and am still loving it. It is a little louder than stock on start-up/fast idle, but the noise is easily washed out by road noise at higher speeds. Once the car is warmed up, the exhaust is quiet, and only seems louder when the windows are down and you're standing on the gas in an echoing urban environment.
I've made a few 500 mile highway trips (cruising from 60 -100 mph) since installation, and did not notice any excess noise or droning. It is much quieter than my rust-holed stock system was, which was also leaking at the clamps.
Make sure you install it tightly. I used generous amounts of exhaust sealant and new clamshell clamps on installation, and retightened everything a few weeks later. Lots of exhaust systems get loud when they spring leaks at the seams.
I also ordered fron Taliaferro Saab, who included a tube of exhaust sealant and the required extra stainless clamp with my order. I was impressed.
As for the double versus single walled, I think it is primarily for looks. I thought the double-walled oval tip I chose fit the stock look of the car best, but opinions vary. Pick whichever tip you want; I'm sure they all "work" the same. Some people are even foregoing a tip altogether.
Best,
Lutfisk
