Good times...
I was idling at a bank drive through teller yesterday and all seemed to be normal. All of the sudden I heard (I think) a slight "ping" and then suddenly there was high pressure steam (very acidic odor to it) coming from under my hood!! I immediatley turned off the car and it stopped.
I got no warning that something was about to occur. I called Saab Roadside assistance and they looked up my car and told me that a tow was on the way. She also giggled and informed me that my warranty expires today 3/13(!). Luck be a lady I guess.
I am really upset about this...about 2 months ago I had my car in because the "Fill Coolant Fluid Message" and the dealer replaced the head gasket and a temp gauge due to the blown head. They told me that my head did was not warped and didn't need replacing...now I wonder.
Any ideas? The steam wasn't comming from the radiator, I don't think. All of the steam seemed to be coming out of the drivers side about mid way or further towards the windscreen.
Now that my warranty is expired, I am extremely nervous that something else may be wrong due to this and they may miss it. Do I have any recourse for future repairs? The car just rolled over 34,000 miles and shouldn't be (IMO) having these problems. Can that hot acidic steam hurt other components under the hood that they wouldn't notice?
Argh,
Trevyn
