I think davenew made the discovery that 235/40/17 will fit. Now 245's...that's a whole new game. Feel free to experiment with those if you want. From looking at Dave's pictures, I'd say that 245 is pushing it, especially on the stock rims.
FWIW, I put 225/45/17 on (instead of 215's), and torque steer dropped off a whole bunch, but that is a direct result of the Bridgestone vs. OE Pirelli's. In theory, wider tires should make the whole tramming/TS issue worse. I guess it just goes to show that there are many, many variables at play.
