I need a new daily driver as I'm finally retiring my Ford Exploder from this duty. I'm considering a new 9-3SS (probably an Arc) but I don't like the depreciation hit one takes in the first 2 or 3 years of ownership, so I'm also considering a 2000 or 2001 9-3.
This would be my first Saab, so I don't know much about the models, options, problem areas, etc. I have heard (through this board) that the SE HOT models are good.
I found a fully loaded 2000 9-3 SE HOT auto w/ 38,000 miles at a nearby dealer (which I have yet to view and test drive), but it seems overpriced to me @ $18,499. What would be a fair price for this car? And what should I look or listen for when test driving? And would I be better off negotiating down the price or asking them to include an extended warranty?
Any tips on what to look for (and what to look out for) would be greatly appreciated! Also, your thoughts on the choice between a new 9-3SS versus a used 9-3 -- I have the money for either, I'm just cheap when it comes to a daily driver.
