Hi All,
I would just note that with the various sports cars that I have owned (Aero, TT, M3, twin-turbo 300Z - I was challenged almost daily by other drivers... I rarely gave more that a half-hearted response... the last thing I want to be doing is street racing with someone who's skills I know nothing about. My fondest memories of pushing my car's limits have been when no other cars are around to endanger me... That being said I have had some wonderful chases with folks I know (and we agreed to stay off of each other's tails) swapping the lead/follow back and forth so that we could watch each other's lane/cornering choice.
By the way, in order to make these events challenging and reasonable safe - you can make rules such as crossing a median line is instant disqualification, etc. - nobody should be driving 8/10ths - 10/10th's on a public road - save it for the autocross where the clock tells all...
Happy Motoring
eric
