I didn't go to the head unit for my input. I used the existing speaker wire as the imput to the amp. Then went out of the amp back to the speakers. I mounted the amp on the right side behind the wheelwell, but I didn't just stick it to the carpet. If you remove the lining there is a piece of metal where the wheelwell is welded to the body, I screwed a piece of custom cut particle board into the the metal. It makes a perfect bracket. Then we used and additional 90 degree backet on the other end to secure it to the deck. Then I put all the carpet back in place and attached the amp to the particle board with the carpet in between. Worked perfect and it is super secure. It looks fantastic and is completly out of the way. The power cable is run from the battery down the right side of the car and the input wire to turn the amp on runs up the left side to the fuse box where I tied it into the lighter fuse.
I had now desire to try and screw with the head unit. The install was done by me and a friend who is a professional installer. He helped me out and had ideas on how to do it best.
