extended warranty work reimbursement?

If you scroll down, you can read about my 'seized A/C pulley' which as it turns out is an entirely seized A/C compressor. The dealer has been extremely helpful about everything considering I just basically brought the car in with zero notice, and now a plan of action has been formulated in terms of replacing the compressor. I have an aftermarket warranty for the car (99 9-3SE 70K) from DFS (which I purchased from a different Saab dealer), but the service rep says that this dealer only works directly with GE Capital extended warranties. Furthermore, I will have to front the money for the work and then write my extended warranty company requesting a reimbursement. It seems like there are many ways in which I could potentially lose money going this reimbursement route (for instance if my ext. warr. company can't justify the dealer's price, etc.), but it seems like the only available path if the dealer doesn't accept my current plan. Has anyone ever dealt with anything like this, i.e. extended warranty reimbursements. I'm a little nervous because the work I'm having done is relatively costly. Thanks muchly.
