sb and Dean C, thanks for your input. This seems like a longer and more complicated process than it should be but i guess everyone involved is interested in saving money and getting paid, etc. The only problem is that my car has been in the shop almost a week already (I didn't have a service appointment) and I don't think I can go another whole week without the car (my only car) waiting for DFS and the dealer to agree on a repair price. I basically need the car back as soon as possible. One thing I don't understand is why some dealers have no problem working with an extended warranty company and others require this convoluted reimbursement business. At the dealer where I purchased the car and the warranty, whenever I was having work done, the service rep would call DFS and work out the details and I would never have to pay up front. Same thing at a different dealer 400 miles away, they accepted DFS no questions asked. For shelling out a couple thousand for the warranty, you'd think they'd make it harder for one to get screwed out of one's money. Right now it seems almost too easy, if each proper step is not precisely timed and executed. Sigh. Thanks for reading.
