not sure if its right but for whats its worth:
first assumption is that the speed of the car is calculated off of a gear in the tranny that for the standard diameter tire one revolution of the gear causes the tires to rotate a certain distance and is then scaled to miles
- with the larger diameter tires for each gear rotation the tires rotate less distance ( but you travel farther which the tranny gear has no way of knowing) so the speedometer wiil show you going slower than you actually are( that 1.6% you calculated is slower? i hope).
- the SID measures the fuel consumed and since the car appears to have traveled less distance over the calculation time the mpg goes down.
interested in hearing others analysis. i think those tires look great and if listed to fit , should without problems. yes an adjustment through tech2
can be done to accomodate the new tire diameter- that dealer sounds lame.
