I just tore the whole thing apart - The plastic shaft connecting the knob to the plastic drum under the vent is broken (this is definitely the weak link). The plastic drum has holes that line up the different vents as you turn the knob. This drum is huge and a lot of mass for such a flimsy shaft. I lubed it all up and tried to super glue the shaft, but it's not going to work. I can tell that a new shaft is going to fail after some time. It can't take the flex. I think I could make one out of aluminium shafts and a pump shaft coupling, but machining the special ends - one male and one female will not be DIY. Is there any place to pick up a shaft other than the dealer?
