I understand how you feel. I wanted to keep the stock head at all costs initially, then I just got fed up with the harsh, muddy sound.

Speaker reviews, especially car audio, are so subjective and there are too many varibles to base your decisions off of. Speaker efficiency and accuracy are all about the enclosure. The same speakers in a suburban will definately sound different in your saab. Likewise, listening to speakers in the showroom, where they are mounted in MDF, properly damped, and no road noise, gives little idea of how they will sound in the car, especially since most places drive their show room with the best head and best amps they have. If it were all about just the spearker deisgn why would there be a 50/50 review? Some people are not good installers, some cars have bad acoustical properties, and the ajoining hardware is bound to be different from one to the next. So, no one can tell you what speakers sound like. It like asking, whats an apple taste like?... well whats it taste like to YOU? ....get it

Best bet is to buy them from a place with a satisfaction guarantee.

Not to sound like some sort of elitist here, but as far as Im concerend, you are trying to complete an already broken chain. And your making the links bigger after the broken spot.

But, I understand your reasoning. I dont like the look of the aftermarket unit as much, but good audio makes or breaks my driving pleasure, and I had to make a sacrafice somewhere.
