No. I've taken to calling the 9-3ss Linear a "glorified SAAturn." It does have its good points -- handling and brakes. I had a 9-5 and loved it, but the 9-3 has way too much of the cheap GM feel to it. The interior plastics are hard and cheap looking, and the stereo is horrible (even the stereo in the Chevy Cavalier they gave as a loaner during the OnStar install put the 9-3 stereo to shame). It shows that SAAB has chosen (or been forced to) adopt the usual GM method of car design -- which is not "can we make it best in class" but rather "how cheap do you think we can we make it and get away with it?" Therefore I am now also afraid that the 9-3ss will prove to have no more reliability or longevity than any other GM product -- and we all know that for decades now GM cars have been absolute crap.
If you want a quality European car, buy a 9-5 now before GM "GM-isizes" (and therefore turns to crap) the next generation of that model.
