In '02, Saab did away with the Base. Instead they offered two SE models: One with Premium Pkg and one without. The differences are:
Full leather vs. leather and textile combo seats
"Sport" Steering wheel in Prem. only
Power front seats with driver memory vs. Power driver seat only
Very slightly different suspension (Prem. stiffer)
Door speakers and more watts in Prem. only
Auto Climate Control in Prem. only
3yr/36K Maintenance is free in Prem. only
Differences from previous year SE:
Heated seats not standard on either pkg. only optional
Leather door inserts (not velour).
"turbo" logo embossed on seat backs (25th anniv. of turbo Saabs)
New 5-spoke design 16" wheels (not like '99-01).
HOT engine was standard on both pkg as well.
I have the non-Prem. '02 SE and the only thing I miss is the full leather. Not so much because of feel, because these new "textile" seats feel and look very sporty, but because leather is so much easier to clean. As for the rest, the suspension difference is very very minor, ACC sucks IMHO, stereo still sounds great (compared to my old 900), and I do my own service.
