Yes, I was going to put a transistion at the end of the duct.
The modded air box works well. I don't see that a cone filter would have any great advantage.
The resistor mod fakes out the MAP sensor and on a T5 the ECU will respond with higher boost pressures and higher fuel cut pressures. With a MBC you are in control of the boost pressure and its the fuel cut that you are after. A modest gain can be had with no change to the fuel system, but if the fuel pressure is increased the resistor mod can take the pressures higher yet. The ECU simply adapts to the new variables using the O2 sensor feedback as usual. So one is getting into some risks with such mods. A A/F meter might be a good idea. The FPR pressure can be increased with a series regulator or crushing the can of the OEM FRP in a vise... a black art.
My resistor mod was minor, no alterations to the fuel pressure.
One sign of a resistor mod is that with ignition on and engine not started, the boost guage will read -ve, which shows how faked out it is.
Mortals should probably get a speedparts stage II. Someone well known on this BB used a custom high pressure ECU mod and then cranked it up higher with a resistor mod. Very agressive changes. Water injection used for survival. All great fun, and sometimes its fine, and cheaper!, just to read about it :)
