I wasn't going to harp on it. But now that you mention it, I really do have some kind of visceral aversion to those awful 10-spoke 15" rims. You know what they made me think of the first time I saw them? The bare-bones wheels they used to put on Honda Civics in the '70's! My practical mechanic said not to stress out about them. "After all" he said, "you can't tell what they look like when they're spinning!" Unfortunately reasoning like that just doesn't work on obsessed car lover/owners. For those who don't remember the old boring Honda rims, perhaps it's enough to explain that they just seem a bit too much like the wheels a suburban professional mom might have on her car. This car (a 2000 9-3) was supposed to be an upgrade from my trusty companion 1986 900-S of so many years. (A gift to myself.) But the guilt I felt was bad enough. Now I had to feel emasculated too! New wheels were the only real remedy for my pain.
While we're at it: Is there a support group for remorseful, guilt plagued former 900 owners? Am I in it?
