You shouldn't have done that to a C900, probably shouldn't do it here, either. Explanation is for a C900; the steering rack is all different, but I think the same explanation is still true.
The rack itself is the only thing preventing you from steering 'too far' in one direction or the other. The steering wheel needs to turn exactly the same in both directions when it hits the stop. Take off the wheel & reposition it to 'make it so'.
Then (after proper alignment) if the wheel isn't straight, you lengthen one tie rod & shorten the other by the same amount. Usually what causes this is when someone adjusts the toe, they only adjust one side. That puts it off-center and you'd just make things worse by repositioning the steering wheel.
If you get this far enough off-center, you allow the steering to move too far in one direction. You could over-flex a CV joint & damage it, or you could maybe tear a brake hose off or something.
