Great value.....lease end buy loophole.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Certified saab worth $1500? any potential problems?, ckpaden, Thu, 14 Aug 2003 16:23:30 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have reservations about whether a Saab dealer will CPO a lease end buy. Technically to Certify a Saab the Saab dealer has to sell the car. A lease end buy sorta' qualifies. $1,500 barely covers the cost of the Certification policy from Saab, then there's all the reconditioning to bring it up to Saab standards. Your tires and brakes may have many good miles left in them, but may not meet CPO standards for example.
If you buy a similar warranty extension from the GM Protection Plan, the factory GM warranty company, the same zero deductible 6 year 100,000 miles coverage costs $2,500-3,000; however you must do this within 3 years and 36,000 of when the car was new. Even though the factory warranty is 4 years and 50,000 miles, and GM will do it for a Cadillac, for a Saab you must extend within the 3/36 for GMPP. You can Certify a used Saab through 4 years and 60,000 miles.
