That somewhere along the line something is goofy with the shop and the mechanic. Where many of the items symptonless? That is did these items malfunction and illicit a complaint from you or were they brought up to you by the mechanic and sevice advisor? Especially things like the rear shocks, brake calipers, rear door locks.
I've never worried about a car having a problem history. Once the true problem is found they stay fixed forever. I have found that mechanics and sevice advisors can be over zealous, leaking rear shocks is one example that comes to mind. If a little oil residue on the shaft or body is the criterea, the supposed "leaking rear shock", than 3/4s of all rear shocks are defective. Similar scenario with the rear door locks, if the handles don't work well than you need to lift them more deliberately, not replace them as the design isn't that good ergonomically.
