Depends on the wheel

I have the smooth-surfaced, 5-spoke Viggen wheels on my '01 Viggen and they're a cinch to clean. Just a sponge with soap and water does the trick. On my wife's 9-5 however, it's a major bitch! The wheels have a ton of spokes and the surface between each of them isn't smooth - it's porous - so the break dust sticks to it like glue. Very hard if not impossible to get off, especially since the space between each spoke is small.
If I ever get rid of the Viggen or buy a new set of wheels for it, I'll make sure to get a car/wheels that have a smooth surface so they're easy to clean.
