I put Rockford Fosgate 360X amp in the kick panel. It's a five year old amp I picked up on eBay for $50.00 (four channels). I bought a modified DIN
cable but instructions are available from Eric's Saab site to convert one to 4 RCA outs. I had a real bear of a time getting the fit right and clearing the cable on the side of the air distribution box. The kick panel sits out about two inches but you can't even tell at first glance.
I did the whole thing, amp wiring kit, all new speakers and a cap. I even
put a line converter on the front channels of the head unit which is driving a small 25 watt amp pushing some Infinity 3.5's in the dash with 400Hz bass blockers. The Rockford is driving Infinity 605cs components in the doors and 6953i 6x9's in the rear. It's only 50 watts per but it is VERY clean power. A total of 8 speakers (14 voice coils) and ZERO trunk room given up. It's a great sounding set up. Eventually I'll start replacing the speakers with something better but for now I am very pleased with the results. Total dollars spent - under $400.00
I'm gonna have to post pics now that I have a digital camera again. It was lots of work, but I enjoy working on the 9-3.
Link below if you haven't already checked it out.
Good luck, Doug P '99 9-3S
