Just got new R&T w/road test article on 9-3 Vector. Overall positive. Applauded the improved manual trans and styling that sets it appart from others in the Euro sport sedan crowd.
One statement I did NOT understand regarded the new engine. They like the engine, which is fine. But in comparing new engine to the previous generation 9-3 turbo engines they say the new engine is less "peaky".
I haven't driven a base 9-3 or an SE, but the Viggen is anything BUT peaky. For crying out loud, the thing makes peak torque down at 2500 rpm and holds it pool table flat all the way to 4500. Haven't all 9-3 turbo's had wonderfully broad power bands??
