If a car has a "greenhouse design", meaning greenhouse-like, then it's probably exactly as you say. If "the greenhouse design reflects Saab heritage," then they mean the design of the part of the car above the beltline. Take, for example, this sentence from a review of the Ford Five Hundred Concept on http://www.cardesignnews.com: "The car’s greenhouse area has been carefully designed to provide more headroom and the ability to raise the hip-point of the front seats."
It's a non-technical term, and I'm sure various journalists have heard it and used it in their own ways without really knowing what previous users meant by it...so it means whatever makes sense in context :)
