MBC = pressure overshoots -cheap
MBC+pop-off vents overshoots -expensive and difficult
MBC+anticipator prevents overshoots -cheap, easy, effective
The MBC has overshoots because the boost is increasing very fast and the MBC is sleeping in and is late to work.
The MBC+anticipator pre-pressurizes the WGA, so that when the MBC wakes up, it does not have to take any time to get the WGA presssurized to the point where is wants to start to move. So the MBC flow gets to opening the WGA without delay. So the MBC gets to work on time.
The APR lets you set the terminal pre-load pressure that the WGA sees. The APR will not flow when the MBC opens, and the APR will not vent any of the MBC flow. So the two adjustments to not affect each other, which is a VERY important feature. This is why you do not want to get "relief" type APR.
The MBC+anticipator is a fundamental improvement on the ball-spring MBC. There is nothing that a basic ball-spring design can do to improve. Space age light weight balls do not address the fundametal limitation of the design.
I proposed that an anticipator or very soft WGA spring or adjustment would solve the MBC problem. But an APR anticipator is very easy to setup. Fiddling with a hot WGA is not a fun proposition. And the anticipator leaves the WGA adjustment stock which has good merit in itself.
