I think the entire length of rubber hose should be "girdled" with clamps (or that corrugated metal), otherwise the unrestricted area past the clamps will simply balloon out as well.
When I ported out my TBTC, I also thought about grinding down the rolled ends of the hardpipes. Airflow has to be nasty at these junctions! But since the rolled ends keep the hoses from blowing off the junctions, you wouldn't want to remove all of it.
