Interesting info here. My dealer has been unable to locate any info that the audio upgrade is now available for the 2004 9-3 Arc Convertible. Further, my salesguy has had numerous conversations with the regional rep for Saab for the Pacific Northwest regarding whether we could add OnStar after the fact.

On a lark, I emailed Saab USA to see what they know. The relevant info from their email back to me (quoting my email to them) is below. Saab USA seems to believe that the audio upgrade is available now (which doesn't
surprise me, as the parts and service dep'ts at my dealer are incompetent), and that you can add Onstar after the fact (which *does* surprise me, as the regional rep was pretty clear on this). Any comments, especially from "those in the know"? I've emailed the guy back asking for parts numbers . . . I figure if he can produce those, then I'm golden.

(We like the Onstar system because we use less than 100 minutes a year on it, basically just to call home and say "I'm coming home now." It's very convenient if you keep the minutes down; definitely not something you'd have many long conversations on. We were going to order the car with Onstar, but the dealer had the exact car we wanted on the showroom floor, except without Onstar, and my wife wanted it "today," so . . . . .)

Text of email from Saab USA:

Dear Michael,

Thank you for contacting the Saab Cars USA Customer Interaction Center.

Yes there is an stereo upgrade available to the vehicle.

Yes, there is an option that will allow you to have OnStar in the vehicle.

Sincerely,
Phil

Comment: Hello --

We recently purchased a 2004 Saab 9-3 Arc Convertible. There are two areas
that we have been disappointed in:

1) The audio system, quite frankly, is an affront for a $45K+ vehicle. My
dealer has indicated to me that the audio upgrade accessory item available
for the 9-3 sports sedan does not fit the convertible. Will an audio
upgrade accessory be made available for the convertible?

2) Our convertible did not come with OnStar. However, we would prefer to
have OnStar. Is Saab USA considering an accessory item to allow OnStar to
be added?

Thank you!

- Mike.
