It's obvious that you hate GM, Ford, and possibly Chrysler for some reason. Just don't forget that without GM and Ford, there are alot of car companies that wouldn't be ask successful as they are today: Volvo (Ford), Jaguar (Ford), Mazda (Ford), Land Rover (BMW, then FORD), Saab (GM). Without GM, there would not be a 9-3SS. They'd be limping along with the previous 9-3, and 900 platform. Quirky, niche market vehicles do not make auto manufacturers money. Not without parts/platform sharing, and being able to acheive economies of scale in manufacturing and purchasing. Just look what VW did with the Golf platform (Audi A4, Jetta, Passat, Golf, Beetle).

I've owned VW, Chevy, Buick, Pontiac, Ford, Saab, Porsche. My Chevy was probably the most reliable, but the Ford seems to be passing it up (w/ 90K miles and still cookin'). So far, the Saab, which I bought in May for the wife, would have cost me over $1500 in repairs had it not been certified. I love the Saab, and hope the trips to the dealer are behind me. But POS GM or Ford cars...I don't think so fella. Take a look at the reliability of pre-2000 Porsche Boxsters. The engine will blow before 40K miles due to a bad fix to an experimental engine case casting process that didn't quite work...yet went to production. Ford or GM would have been hung out to dry if they did this.

And guess what, Mercedes is even learning from Chrysler. Mercedes has problems getting new designs/technology to market. They are always behind BMW. Chrysler is an expert at short design-to-production timeframes. Mercedes will benefit from this, and Chrysler will benefit form Mercedes by gaining on their ability to produce a quality vehicle.

Go ahead and make a point Bruiser, but make a real point. Don't just go GM bashing. It get's old. No, I don't work for GM.
