I knew some of the "Foreign vehicles" were made in countries other than the original countries. That why I will pick Passat over Jetta even though the size of a Jetta is more suitable for me (I almost bought the Passat before I bought my Saab). If I want to buy a "Made in USA/Mexico" vehicle, why should I pay the premium for an "Import" ? Why don't I buy a TrailerBrazer instead of a 9-7X ?

From my friends' and my experience, I still found that in the same company, the "Made in Japan" vehicles are still more reliable than their Made in US/Canada/Mexico vehicles, no matter they are in the same class or not (Mazda Protege vs Madza 626, the old Nissan Maxima vs old/new Altima, Toyota Highlander vs Camry, Passat vs Jetta, Impreza vs Legacy, etc.) I think some companies still have some quality control issues. There are still workers don't like to change/improve their work attitudes.

I am more concern about where the vehicles were made from than where the parts came from. Most of the time the parts are ok and can be easily to be replaced. The problem is how they put the whole car together. I remembered Packer Bell (did I spell it right ?) PCs used good parts but the company didn't know how to put the good parts together. That's why their PCs got so many problems.

Just like electronics, only the high-level/more expensive products were made in Japan. The cheaper products were made in Malaysia, Singapore, etc.
(Check a Canon S45/50 vs Canon A60/A70). Most Japanese products sent to US were tested and used in Japan for a long time. The Japanese companies want to make sure their products are ok before they ship them to other countries. That's why we always get their "old" products but the products seem to be more reliable.

Some people are ok with that but I don't want to take the risk (you can call me stubborn). I feel better and more confidence even though I need to spend a little bit more for the "original". (Do you know why most or all Lexus and Infiniti were still made in Japan ?)
