SID Pixels yet again..sorry

This is a 1999 9-3. SID was replaced when under warranty in 2002. The
pixels are going out again. SAAB USA flatly refused to help in anyway
as I'm nowhere near 50K.
I attempted a stage1 fix of some foam over the contacts..this did not help
much. I did see the problem of the display connector and how its attached
to the board. If one pressed on it the display is ok.
I'm bit upset with SAAB about this popular problem that seems to stem from
a bad design. Whether I go used or new it seems another SID will last just
a couple of years. To get myself further upset I asked and was told that
there is no problem with the part or there would have been a recall.
At this I figure to rely upon the collective wisdom of wise SaabNetters
here...should I;
a.) Keep at SAAB until the end of my days?
b.) Buy a used one, hope it will last, and get on with my life?
c.) Attempt some of the more drastic fixes; its seems to be a conductive
glue holding the connector on.. Perhaps someone knows of a better or
permament way to connect the display ribbon cable?? Regular solder looks
like it won't work..traces are too close.
Is there anyone here with a 1999 or 2000 9-3 still on the original SID??
Sorry for ranting..I realize its a silly problem, nothing to do with safety.
