Ok you are going to think I am crazy...
..but your head acts as a nice booster for short range RF like keyless entry. If you put the fob under your chin or against the side of your head it boosts the range a little. It doesn't seem to fry too many brain cells either.
In case you are wondering how I know this works, I test it daily. I have a remote to open the gates at the apartments where I live. My roommate told me about the "head booster" thing so I gave it a try. Without head, I can't get the gates open before I get to them and I have to slow down and wait. With head, I can get them opening from when they come in sight and just breeze right through.
It isn't quite so dramatic with the SAAB, but it does help.
I don't recommend doing this when you are opening the doors for someone you want to impress... :)
