I finally got the Saab I bought over the summer in to a dealer for 30K maintenance and some odds and ends.
To my great delight, they were willing, without demur, to do the MTF0063 replacement under warranty. Invoice shows 5 units, so they did the full flush. Driving back yesterday (the dealership is about 40 mi from here), I noted a GREAT improvement, all the way through the gates feels smoother.
In return, I gladly accepted being charged for replacing the missing Saab and 9-3 badges on the hatch lid. And they did do a fresh decal for free.
My problem with splitting the rear seatback, which I mentioned in first post here, turned out to be two-fold. The seatback tucks rather tightly under the headrest, and I foolishly didn't realize that the headrest is attached to the bar and not to the seatback. They also showed me the nifty feature of rolling back the bar when dropping the entire backseat.
The car came without any remotes, so I splurged on the integrated key remote. Got the Test Brake Light check deleted. They ordered a replacement for a flakey front left speaker. Since no evidence of 20K service, I asked them to check the cabin air filter, which did need replacement.
They were able to skip tire rotation as I'd just bought snows. Ordered Hakka Qs, and after several days delay my local tire dealer found out their distributor didn't have any in stock, so I got Hakka 2s at the price of the Qs. Of course, it hasn't snowed since, but I'm pleasantly surprized at how well planted the car still feels at speed, on both dry and wet pavement. And just a hint of whine from the tires.
Oh, the dealership is Forno's in Endicott NY, and the good reports I got from folks on the board and from friends were proved true.
Anyhow, pardon the ramble but I'm a happy camper today.
Wishing everyone a happy 04, with continuing thanks for all the info and advice here. I've wound up feeling that both Saabs and the people who drive them are super.
