Usually when you buy a warranty within the factory warranty, the warranty is quoted from the original in service date. A "6/100" is an extra 2/50 from the original in service date or when the vehicle is new.
Typically there is a surcharge of $50-100 above a beyond what the same warranty would have cost if purchased within the first 6 months of ownership. That is, after a vehcile is 6 months old, you use a slightly more expensive chart, for a full coverage warranty from the in service date.
GMPP, the General Motors Protection Plan, will only sell an extension of the original factory warranty, 4/50 to 6/75 or 6/100 for example, within the first 3/36. They won't go all the way to the expiration of 4/50, but instead cut off the enhanced price and protection of the new car warranty extension to 3/36.
Dunno' why the won't extend the same courtesy for a Saab as they will for Cadillac. For Caddy they go all the way to 4/50, but for Saab only to 3/36.
