Had to remove the Steering Rack Brace

I've had this clunk over large bumps for years now. I almost never heard it with the stock springs, once a month or so with the Eibachs, and almost daily with the B&G springs. I thought I was bottoming out and I was... sort of. The tie rod end was coming up and hitting the rack brace. The B&Gs must be weakening (effect of a progressive spring I'd say) so I hit it more often lately. I got fed up and started taking things apart until I found the telltale marks and it all became clear.
I've had two days of nice driving again. I left the aluminum bushing in there and just took out the brace. So far so good.
What did I learn from all this? I should have gotten the Abbott springs which have a specific model for automatics and are not progressive so that they will last longer. I guess that I would have been OK with the Eibachs too.
The folks at "The Dr Inc" didn't notice this part. They just suggested better springs. Kudos to them, however, as they found my sunglasses out in their parking lot and kept them just in case anybody called. ;)
