I think the forces on the firewall are the same with or without the bushing.
The only thing the bushing can absorb a little bit would be an impact, but the effort would the same wouldn't it?
I mean, if you hammer a piece of metal and then hammer it with a layer of rubber in between the force would be the same no? ... No I got to go try!
Looking at this set-up I would say that the brace will create more reaction forces on the firewall.
I also have the clunking problem, I got to look at the tie rod for any sign of contact now. Very good input guys.
