Obviously, they were hoping that the coolant leak would not happen until warranty was gone. Then the dealer can charge a nice fee for replacing the head gasket. They were probably hoping no one but dealers ever saw this TSB, and that no one would ever be having discussions like this in a forum like this (albeit most of us are too late).
Lowers warranty costs for Saab, makes dealer's service dept. happy later...one thing they forgot with GM short term profit mentality, this will make for a sour owner who will look elsewhere for his/her next car purchase.
The short life T7 DI, water pump o-ring arrangement, and flimsy front suspension is already enough to p--s me off. Not to mention bogus clutch cable, washer pump, seals and hoses on my 94 SE.
I ordered new bolts and a VC gasket (leak there, torx screws are tight), I will report what type they are when I recieve them. If not my buddy at work wants them regardless, his head bolts were torqued twice at the dealer and the head gasket still leaks, so he is probably in for an HG replacement at 75k, where new bolts are recommended.
